The Stanford Invitational got off to a flying start with a full day of fast times at Cobb Track and Angel Field. Stanford posted many of the day's fast times with several athletes earning regional qualifying marks and one school record falling. The men were led by Myles Bradley in the 110 meter hurdles where he achieved a regional qualifying time of 13.96 seconds and has the top seed entering tomorrow's final. His time also moved him into second place all-time at Stanford in the 110 meter hurdles. The 800 meters saw three Stanford athletes achieve regional standards. Russell Brown finished third overall with a time of 1:48.66. Just behind him wasMichael Garcia who finished fourth with a time of 1:49.18. The other regional standard went to Garrett Heath who finished eighth in a personal best time of 1:49.70. Achieving a regional qualifying standard in the 100 meters was Wopamo Osaisai with a time of 10.51 seconds. The Stanford record holder in the event was just off his personal best. In the 10,000 meters, Hari Mix just missed the automatic NCAA qualifier, but did earn a provisional time of 28:50.87, which was a personal best.
