Great Britain’s 2010 European Athletics Championships 10000m silver medallist Chris Thompson is planning to attack the UK record over 25 laps of the track of 27:18.14, which has been held by Jon Brown since 1998, in California at the famous Stanford track on April 30.

Thompson said that he wants to get the record, “before Mo Farah puts it out of sight.”

Last year, at the same meeting, Thompson ran 27:29.61 for the second fastest European time of 2010 and he is now the fourth fastest Briton ever.

“Even now, when I look back on the race, I can’t quite believe it. I felt so good and so strong, like my old self prior to all my injuries,” said Thompson recently, reflecting on last year’s run.
